Descent of Speed

While many people consider Labor Day to be the end of summer, it officially ends this weekend. While I still have a few more weeks before my Summer Vacation ends, I’ve had a tremendous summer. I visited 10 countries (adding two new countries), saw the Canadian Rockies, Niagra Falls, and Stonehenge. I went to seven races, podiumed in three (in buttboard) and won the consolation in three others. I will most likely finish the year in the top 4.  I spent some time with some amazing friends, and had a blast.

Now its time to clean my house up and return to work!

I finally got home from my second big summer trip. Actually I got home a couple of days ago, but I was so busy enjoying being home, I didn’t have a chance to update the blog.

 Monday I visited Brighton, another beach resort about half hour from Eastbourne. This is a more famous town, and looked a lot more fun than Eastbourne. While they both have a rocky beach with a pier, Brighton actually has stores along the waterfront, along with some night clubs! The weather was also nicer, and I spent some time on the beach.

Tuesday I went to Dover to visit the large castle there. Dover is near the end of the chunnel. I spent the day wandering around the castle, and the tunnels underneath the castle that was used during WWII. After visiting the castle, I went back to London for the night.

I left the next morning to return to the States. I made the mistake of thinking my 12:40 flight left at 2:40. Fortunately I planned on getting to the airport 4 hours before I thought my flight was going to leave. I managed to be one of the last people on the plane.

As much as I love to travel, it is nice to be home. And doing laundry. Clean clothes are good.

I’m pretty excited. I just took Silver in the classic race today, and I got the best trophy! The winner got 150 pounds, third got a case of Go Fast and a tshirt. I got a Speed Days skateboard! That is a skateboard with a logo of the event on it! I’m stocked! My best finish in an IGSA event!

I also took 5th in street luge. Not as good as I wanted, but still pretty good. I guess I should have qualified better!
