Thought Police
There used to be a time when Americans were free. Of course with things like the Patriot Act we are loosing our freedoms.
But one freedom that we seem to have given up, is what we can think. It is no longer appropriate to think differently. To be different, to act different. Apparently we must always be “appropriate,” we must always love, and never hate.
Recently a store back east decided it was inappropriate to write a child’s name on the child’s birthday cake. It just so happened that the child’s name is Adolph Hitler. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/28269290/?gt1=43001
So what? It isn’t the store’s decision to decide if the name is appropriate or not. It seems to me the store is telling the couple “you can’t hate.” Hate is an emotion, and it is OK to hate someone. It is ok to hate something. We are all different. Hate is an ugly emotion, but it is just an emotion.
I would prefer if everyone loves everyone, but that isn’t going to happen. Lets stop trying to make everyone into grey homogenous people.
